Bringing home a new Maltese terrier puppy can be overwhelming for both you and the puppy. The more committed you are to a set schedule, the quicker your puppy will adapt. Pick several times during the day to take your puppy outside to relieve him/her self. Puppies have not yet learned how to control themselves, so keep this in mind when you set your schedule. Because Maltese terriers have a playful temperament by nature you can expect them to be a little rambunctious at times. Take this as an opportunity to engage in some fun with them. A playful puppy is a happy puppy. If you’re concerned about your Maltese terrier puppy chewing on things they shouldn’t, make it clear to the puppy which items are chewable toys by keeping them in a central location, and encourage the puppy to play with them. Don’t overwhelm the puppy by introducing too many toys at once, otherwise the line between toys and non-toys might be a little confusing.
